Rodgers & Hammerstein's score for THE SOUND OF MUSIC is one of the most cherished collections of songs of all time. Based on their Broadway musical, with a libretto by Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse, the film version was directed by Robert Wise and brought the universal (and true) story of the von Trapp family to life on the screen. The film famously starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The resulting film earned 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture; was the top-grossing domestic film of its time; and, when readjusted for inflation, still holds the #1 spot for top-grossing domestic movie musical of all time.

The soundtrack is a classic in its own right, having spent its first four years on Billboard's Top Albums chart, and sold over 10 million units to date. With the radiant Julie Andrews leading the way, the vocal and orchestral performances include iconic versions of such standards as the title song, "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Do-Re-Mi," "Edelweiss," "So Long, Farewell," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," and of course, "My Favorite Things."
