ROCK OF AGES and SWEENEY TODD star Lauren Molina has put out an appeal to fans to help her take her solo musical career to the next level. Alongside ROCK OF AGES co-star Jeremy Jordan, Molina recently recorded the single "We Are Gonna Be Alright," and the pair is now looking to record a music video for the track.
Writes Molina of the endeavor:
"My musical mission is to make people to smile. Through funny or bittersweet lyrics, whimsical instrumentations, and sincere storytelling, each of my songs captures something we all can relate to; living in a beautiful and ironic world.
My new single "We Are Gonna Be Alright" is sung as a duet with former ROCK OF AGES castmate and friend, Jeremy Jordan. It was produced and recorded by Mother West producer/engineer Charles Newman (The Magnetic Fields, AM, The Black Kids).
After we recorded the song, we decided,"We Are Gonna Be Alright" is poppy, funny, a feel good summer tune that is in need of a music video! A video is exactly what we need to promote my music on the internet, reaching out to many more people through a creative visual element, and making them laugh through both sound and sight.
I contacted my friend and director, Dutch Doscher, who will be directing the video. Since I've never made a music video before I didn't realize how much money would be needed to make it look professional and awesome. With video equipment rental, lighting, and professional editing, we are needing to spend $3000.
That's why we are looking to you for help. In order for this video to be amazingly cool, we need your help through donations. With each donation you will receive something extra specially sweet!"
