STAGE TUBE: Maria's Back! Watch ITV's First Ad for THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE

ITV is putting on its own live version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC this holiday season. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the December 20 live telecast will star Julian Ovenden as 'Captain Von Trapp', Olivier winner Maria Friedman as Mother Abbess, Mel Giedroyc as Frau Schmidt, and Kara Tointon as Maria. Tointon appears in a just-released commercial for the television event and you can check it out below!

Also joining the cast is Evelyn Hoskins as Liesl, Katherine Kelly as Elsa, Alexander Armstrong as Max, Jon Tarcy, David Bamber and Paul Copley.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC will be directed and filmed live by Coky Giedroyc.

NBC aired a live production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC in 2013, starring Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer as the lead couple. Last winter, the network screened PETER PAN with Allison Williams, and this year, it tackled THE WIZ. FOX is also joining the live TV production game with its upcoming version of GREASE, set to air stateside this January.
