Today, Tony-winner Laura Benanti and The Representation Project released a hilarious video highlighting the different ways that actresses are treated in Hollywood. The video is written and directed by Benanti and stars her co-star from ABC drama NASHVILLE, Connie Britton. Produced by Ashley Van Buren and Benanti, the video kicks off The 2015 Fall #AskHerMore campaign. Now in it's second year, the campaign encourages and celebrates reporters who ask women substantive questions on the red carpet and beyond. #AskHerMore went viral at this year's Oscar Awards, trending nationally on Facebook and Twitter, and engaging more than 25 million people worldwide. Britton is a United Nations Development Programme Goodwill Ambassador, and has worked with numerous causes and charities throughout the world. As an actress, Britton is best known for playing country music star Rayna Jaymes on NASHVILLE, Tami Taylor on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, and for her four seasons on SPIN CITY. She was also one of the stars of the first season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, and will be a part of the first season of AMERICAN CRIME STORY.
The Representation Project is an organization focused on limiting stereotypes and prejudices that limit what individuals are capable of. Benanti won the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical opposite Patti LuPone in the 2008 revival of GYPSY. She will play Alura Zor-El, the title character's birth-mother, on CBS' new show SUPERGIRL this fall.
