NOR•MAL the musical, which is presented in conjunction with NORMAL in Schools, is a musical focusing on the impact of eating disorders, the therapeutic impact of theatre and related issues such as body image, self esteem, family communication and stress management.
With more than half of teenage girls and almost one-third of teenage boys in the United States currently engaged in unhealthy weight control behaviors, there is a critical need for eating disorder awareness and support within this vulnerable population. NORMAL In Schools is a nonprofit organization that teaches about eating disorders, the therapeutic impact of the arts and related issues such as body image, self esteem and family communication.
The first two segments of the NIS Online Program / DVD will be of the award- winning 75-minute rock musical NOR•MAL (book by Yvonne Adrian, lyrics by Cheryl Stern, music by Tom Kochan) followed by a talk-back with expert clinicians and people in recovery.
Kerry has starred on Broadway in Xanadu, Rock of Ages, Little Shop of Horrors and the upcoming Catch Me If You Can. Off Broadway and regionally she has starred in Bat Boy: The Musical, The Opposite of Sex at the Williamstown Theater Festival, Miracle Brothers at the Vineyard Theater, The "I" Word at the Ensemble Studio Theater, The Folsom Head at the Currican Theater, Prodigal at the York Theater and numerous readings and workshops of new musicals. Kerry's recordings include her debut solo album, "Faith, Trust & Pixie Dust" along with Xanadu, Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Bat Boy: The Musical, Prodigal, and numerous demo cds.
