Here's a chance to finally see some of Sydney's new production of My Fair Lady, directed by none other than the iconic Julie Andrews.
Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, this show tells the story of Cockney flower girl, Liza Doolittle, and her fascinating, culture-clashing relationship with phoneticist Professor Henry Higgins.
Headlining the new company are acclaimed performer (and 3 time Laurence Olivier Winner)Alex Jennings, as Professor Higgins and the young Australian star, Anna O'Byrne, as Eliza Doolittle. They are joined by the outstanding Reg Livermore as Alfred P. Doolittle. Robyn Nevin will play Mrs. Higgins and Mark Vincent will play Freddy Eynsford-Hill. The role of Colonel Hugh Pickering will be played by Tony Llewellyn-Jones and Deidre Rubenstein will play Mrs. Pearce.
My Fair Lady previews commenced at the Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House on August 30 followed by a gala opening night on September 6.
The production will travel to Brisbane's Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 12 March and Melbourne's Regent Theatre from 11 May, 2017. Tickets for the Brisbane and Melbourne season will go on sale in October. For more information, visit myfairladymusical.com.au.
