Signature Theatre's (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) New York Premiere of August Wilson's HOW I LEARNED WHAT I LEARNED, co-conceived with and directed by Todd Kreidler, and featuring Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson begins performances on November 5, and will now play through Sunday, December 22. Opening night is November 24 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42ndStreet between 9th and 10th Avenues). Limited $25 subsidized tickets remain for the production's initial run through December 15. Tickets during the extension week are $75 each.
In this solo show, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson shares stories about his first few jobs, a stint in jail, an early relationship, his first kiss, his foray into cinema, and the friends he has had his entire life. Directed by long-time collaborator Todd Kreidler and featuring Ruben Santiago-Hudson, director of the acclaimed Signature Theatre production of The Piano Lesson, How I Learned What I Learned charts one man's journey of self-discovery through adversity, and what it means to be a black artist in America.
