Written and performed by Tracy Weller and directed by Kristjan Thor, this existential piece will be presented at 225 East Houston Street (@ Essex Street). Performances will begin on Thursday, April 25th. Opening Night is set for Wednesday, April 29th at 8pm. Performances will continue through May 17th. Click below to watch a preview for the show!
In Mason Holdings' Jarring, we descend a rickety ladder to a tiny forgotten world filled with hundreds of Mason jars. The ladder may crack, but as you fall consider the view: is this a fallout shelter or a prison? Or, is it an ingenuous haven for a misplaced, delicate soul? Is the purpose of this place punishment or shelter? Or, is this a chrysalis? Jarring offers an unlikely survival guide to the darkest mental terrain.
"The world values very, very few and we are growing increasingly deaf to the song of the small but extraordinary life," explains Ms. Weller. "I am interested in re-tuning ears and rescuing stories of quiet but remarkable endurance -- before they slip into oblivion."
The creative team for Jarring is comprised of: Justin Swader (sets/lights) and Joel Bravo (music/sound). Liz Nielsen is Production Stage Manager.
Jarring will play the following performance schedule: Thursday-Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 3pm and Monday at 8pm. Tickets are $25 for preview performances (4/25 - 4/27) and $35 and may be purchased online at http://jarringnyc.eventbrite.com.
