BroadwayWorld.com prides itself on monitoring the Internet 24/7 for things of interest to our audience. On the 29th of January, Miami's local ABC affiliate interviewed Andy Señor Jr. and his production of RENT while covering the change of United States policy meetings in Havana. We were very excited to find this, and we hope you will look forward to BroadwayWorld.com's upcoming SPECIAL FEATURE (Dreams Do Come True, Richard Jay-Alexander Talks to Andy Señor Jr., about CUBA and RENT). Richard sat down with Andy after his return from the opening, in Havana. Richard & Andy are both of Cuban descent and the in-depth interview will also have exclusive content. Also, BroadwayWorld.com is working on the launch of our upcoming Cuba page on BroadwayWorld.com, a FIRST in theatre coverage across the globe. Additional content is currently being built and we learned a lot about what was playing there when Andy spoke to BroadwayWorld.com about theatre and performing arts scene in our neighboring country.

This production, presented by Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment marks the first Broadway musical with a full all-Cuban cast, musicians and first-class production elements produced in the nation of Cubain over 50 years. This new production of RENT is part of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment's ongoing mission to bring Broadway musical theatre to new and emerging markets around the globe. Mr. Nederlander commented, "After several years in the making, we're thrilled to bring this authentic Broadway production to the people of Cubaand hope to continue working with the Cuban National Council of Performing Arts for years to come."

The Spanish translation of the musical opened on Christmas Eve at Havana's Bertolt Brecht Theatre to dignitaries and theater people invited by the Cuban National Council of Performing Arts and to the general public on Friday, December 26th. The show's Cuban-American director Andy Señor, Jr. recently told the Miami Herald, "We rocked the roof off the theater." The first several weekends have sold out with tickets costing the U.S. equivalent of 50 cents. RENT will continue its run of weekend shows through March 2015.
