The controversial new music video What the Heck is Art? lampoons incomprehensible and meaningless modern artworks. It has already sparked widespread discussion about the definition of Art. Check it out below.
"All pathways in art are wide open for charlatanism. The audience can't find any comfort or elevation from the arts. All of the cunning, the rich, the idle, and the strainers for effect searching for the new, the strange and the offensive. Since Cubism and even earlier I myself satisfied the critics with endless jokes which they increasingly admired the less they were able to understand. With this game I acquired fame." - Pablo Picasso
"The Art Mafia have mounted a decades long brainwashing campaign with the effect that intelligent people, who in other domains are completely rational, lose their self-confidence and say, 'Maybe it's really art but I can't really say. I haven't the expertise.' The proponents of the Modern are very clever pranksters. Indeed, many of them freely admit it when they get a bit drunk." - Ephraim Kishon, Art critic.
Art Defined: Art is a thing (such as a painting, sculpture, music, play, lyrics, choreography, film, etc.) created by a person with high technical skills which conveys a message, an idea, a feeling or an atmosphere, and is intended to be received by an audience. Art is there for the audience.
The production of the video was sponsored by the cultural betterment organization UCAN (Understanding your Creative and Aesthetic Nature). UCAN was co-founded by professional artist and film producer Ulli Kampelmann with the purpose to return Art to its traditional definition in order to bring clarity, simplicity and understanding to the fields of Art and Aesthetics.
