Oakland School for the Arts in Oakland, California will present the world premiere amateur youth production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's newest Broadway smash hit, School of Rock - THE MUSICAL, for eight performances only starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 3, 2016. Producer (and Oakland School for the Arts supporter) Carole Shorenstein Hays has invited OSA to present their musical on the historic stage of the Curran (where The Phantom of the Opera played for five record-breaking years) through March 12, 2016.

SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL continues its run on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway). Star Alex Brightman and the Broadway cast sent an encouraging video to welcome the OSA students to the band and call upon the "Gods of Rock" to guide them with their West Coast production. In turn, OSA recorded their own fun response. Check out the videos below!

SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL opened on Broadway to rave reviews on Sunday, December 6, 2015. Based on the smash hit 2003 film of the same title, School of Rock - THE MUSICAL features music from the movie, as well as an original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater, with a book by Julian Fellowes and direction by Laurence Connor.

In an unprecedented move, Andrew Lloyd Webber teamed up with R&H Theatricals prior to the show's Broadway opening in December 2015 to make youth performance rights available to schools and youth theaters across the U.S. and Canada. Over 1,500 additional schools and youth groups have applied for School of Rock - THE MUSICAL performance rights through R&H Theatricals. The new musical is available to be performed by youths 18 and under in or outside of a school setting, utilizing the exact materials currently being performed on Broadway. Schools and youth groups can apply for performance rights through R&H Theatricals, here.
