Broadway composer Andrew Lippa and head of the musical theatre program at Texas State University Kaitlin Hopkins took Texas State University musical theatre students into the studio. While serving as the musical theatre program's first Composer in Residence, Andrew and the students recorded "It Gets Better" to aide the efforts of the national anti-cyberbullying campaign. Andrew finished writing the song while was there, as part of the Composer in Residence program. Andrew asked if he could go into the studio with the musical theater students and record the song. This is a video that documents that event and the live concert the students did with Andrew of his work.

Any proceeds from this video will benefit the It Gets Better campaign, which is a national movement started to help teens deal with the rising incidents of cyber bullying. The It Gets Better project has generated thousands of uplifting videos that give hope and mentorship to teens being bullied.

Andrew was also the recipient of the Harrison New Musical Work Commission at Texas State University and will be composing a new show to be developed and premiered here with musical theater students in the new performing arts center.
