AMERICAN IDOL judge Steven Tyler sang the national anthem before the Baltimore Ravens/New England Patriots AFC Championship game yesterday afternoon. Tyler's rendition was highly criticized by fans for his inability to hit the high notes and his erroneous delivery of some of the song's patriotic lyrics.

The 63-year-old lead singer of rock band Aerosmith, a reported superfan of the New England Patriots, repeatedly messed up the lyrics to the song, singing "as bombs bursting in air" and "oh the land of the free". Despite his less than exceptional rendition, his team went on to win the game and advance to Super Bowl XLVI.
