Deadline.com reports that writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been brought on board to rework two new projects: CARRIE - no, not the 1988 legendary flop musical, but a film remake under Screen Gems that's intended to stick more closely to the novel; and he's also set to take on the FOX phenomonen GLEE as a writer and co-producer.
Remakes and revisions are familiar territory for Aguirre-Sacasa, who was tapped to rework the $70 million SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK, as well as Dallas Theatre Center's SUPERMAN.
On May 12, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark unveiled the new version of the mega musical. Tickets are now on sale through October 2, 2011, with group tickets on sale through January 8, 2012. June 14th currently marks the opening date for the improved production from the men who have updated it: writers Glen Berger (who also collaborated with Julie Taymor on the original production) and Broadway newcomer Aguirre-Sacasa.
The revamping of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark represents an unprecedented and historic moment on Broadway. A press release for the new version proclaims that the new show "takes the best aspects of the original, adds great new music by Bono and The Edge, tells the story from a different angle, and will offer an even more thrilling audience experience."
Tickets for SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark are priced from $67.50 - $135 for weekday performances and $67.50 - $140 for weekend performances and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by calling (877) 250-2929. Tickets are also available at the Foxwoods Theatre box office, which is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark will now play the following performance schedule: Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
