The Living Room for Artists Inc./Summer Play Festival will hold a reading series for emerging writers and composers to showcase new musicals at Theatre Row. SPF's Musical Reading Series is an opportunity for writers to have their work seen year-round beyond the July festival.

The first three nights of readings will take place on Thursday, September 28th, Thursday, October 26th, and Thursday, December 7th. They will run from 7:00pm- 8:30pm at Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd).

Each evening will showcase dialogue and one song from three musicals. The readings are free to submit.

To be considered for SPF's Musical Reading Series one song and up to 10 pages of dialogue must be submitted to:

Writers and composers that submitted previous work to the Summer Play Festival are eligible to also submit to the Musical Reading Series.

The Musical Reading Series promotes SPF's mission. Under founder Arielle Tepper Madover (a producer of Broadway's Monty Python's Spamalot, The Pillowman, A Raisin in The Sun, and Freak), "the non-profit Living Room for Artists, Inc. / Summer Play Festival encourages people of all ages to create, attend and work in theatre. Through education, inspiration and financial assistance, The Living Room for Artists gives emerging playwrights the opportunity to have their work produced in a protected environment and offers audiences the chance to see affordable work performed and written by their peers," according to SPF notes.

The series is an addition to SPF's other programs: the year-round Industry Panels with the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting, The three-week Donmar Residency Program in London, and the six week intensive internship program during the July festival.
