Shrew is a new piece of solo theatre exploring one of literature's most vivid, intriguing, and disturbing women - Shakespeare's Katharina, better known as the infamous heroine of The Taming of the Shrew. She asks what it means to be someone, what it means to be a woman, and what it means to be trapped in our own underwhelming destinies.
This marks the debut production for the UK based company, comprised of writer and performer Ami Jones, director Abigail Pickard Price and producer Alexandra Da Silva. As a trio, their aim is to create new and exciting work from the foundations of classical theatre. They explore the story that goes untold, and let audiences in on the secret too.
Shrew made its debut at the Buxton Fringe in England in July, where Ami Jones took home the award for Best Actor (Buxton Fringe Festival Awards). They were also nominated for Best Production and Best New Writing.
They are now coming towards the end of a month's run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, the largest arts festival in the world.
Shrew will be appearing at the United Solo Festival at Theatre Row tonight, October 28 at 7.30pm for one performance only.
