Tony Award-winning actor Jason Alexander returns to Broadway tonight, June 9 when he assumes the role of Norman Drexel in Larry David's hit comedy FISH IN THE DARK, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). Mr. Alexander steps into the role created by Mr. David in the comedy about a death in the family. Larry David will play his final performance in FISH IN THE DARK on Sunday, June 7. The limited engagement run of the production, originally scheduled through June 7, is extended for six weeks through Sunday, July 19.

"Not only was I fortunate enough to write for Jason Alexander on "Seinfeld," but I also had a ringside seat watching his brilliant, indelible performances," commented playwright Larry David. "Needless to say, I was thrilled when I heard he was replacing me in 'Fish in the Dark.' Finally I can enjoy the show."

"I left Broadway 25 years ago because Larry David co-created the show that would change my life and career," said Jason Alexander. "It is totally amazing that he also created the show that would bring me back to Broadway. I am thrilled I get to do this hilarious play for him and with this wonderful cast. It is quite simply more fun than any bald man should have."

FISH IN THE DARK set the record for the highest advance sales for a straight play in the history of Broadway before it began previews in early February, and since then has broken the Cort Theatre box office house record twice.

A Tony Award winner for his performance in the musical Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Jason Alexander came to national prominence in 1989 as George Costanza in the landmark TV comedy "Seinfeld." In addition to Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Jason Alexander appeared on Broadway in Rupert Holmes' Accomplice, Neil Simon's Broadway Bound, and the musicals The Rink and Merrily We Roll Along. His Off-Broadway credits include Light Up The Sky, Personals, and Forbidden Broadway. He most recently starred on stage in the Los Angeles run of the hit musical The Producers. His many film appearances include roles in Brighton Beach Memoirs, Pretty Woman, The Paper, and Love! Valour! Compassion!. He directed the films Just Looking and For Better or Worse. In addition to "Seinfeld," he has appeared in scores of television shows, the most recent being "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee," "Community," "Two and a Half Men," "Harry's Law," "Criminal Minds," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Monk," "Malcolm in the Middle," and "Friends."
