A flash mob of more than 100 teens will be playing guitar and singing in celebration of the power of music as part of Guitar Mash's Teen Mash Mob at Richard Tucker Square (66th Street between Columbus Ave and Broadway) next Friday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. Featured among them will be guest guitarist Brandon Niederauer, who plays 'Zack' in Broadway's SCHOOL OF ROCK.
Featured will be teens and tweens from schools across NYC -- including Guitar Mash's Teen Acoustic Guitar Project, Little Kids Rock, Lower Eastside Girls Club, Replay Music School, School of Rock NYC and more. Passerby are welcome to join in!
The teens will be playing "Purple Rain" by Prince, "Revolution" by The Beatles, "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers and "Riptide" by Vance Joy.
A rehearsal in preparation for the Mash Mob will take place at the Lower Eastside Girls Club (Ave D and 8th Street) this Saturday, May 7, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. A free practice session will also be offered at School of Rock NYC on Friday, May 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. Charts and a video of the three songs are now available for download at guitarmash.org/teens. All is free and open to ages 11-19.
