Dallas playwright Ruth Cantrell's new play, REMNANTS OF A DREAM will receive a staged reading on November 3rd with Lone Star Theatre Co. The play is presented as part of Lone Star Theatre Co.'s on-going TEXAS READS series.

REMNANTS OF A DREAM tells the story of Calvera, a prominent figure in Dia De Los Muertos who follows the U.S./Mexico border to find remnants of dreams of those trying to cross to El Norte. Along the way, Miguel, a would-be immigrant, makes several attempts to cross. His dramatic story, as well as others from both sides of the U.S./Mexican border, is presented through narration, song and dance, blending imagery, pathos and humor in the style of magical realism.

Award winning playwright, Ruth Cantrell lives in Dallas where she teaches at the Dallas Children's Theater. Her scripts have been produced at Bishop's Arts Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Creede Repertory, American Southwest Theatre Company and various universities. Her plays: The Butterfly; Legends from the Middle Kingdom, The Snow Queen, and Puss N. Boots are published by YouthPLAYS.
