Russell Granet Named Executive VP of Lincoln Center Education, Community Engagement, and International

Lincoln Center President Jed Bernstein announced that Russell Granet has been named to the newly created role of Executive Vice President of Lincoln Center Education, Community Engagement, and International.

Added to his role leading Lincoln Center Education (LCE), Granet will oversee Lincoln Center International, a division of Lincoln Center that provides leadership and training to clients around the world. Since Granet's arrival to Lincoln Center in 2012, and under his impactful and energetic direction, the organization has redefined and renewed its commitment to arts education, family programming and community outreach. Following an award-winning rebrand of Lincoln Center Education in 2013, he has been responsible for strategically increasing LCE's work with schools, educators and students in New York City's five boroughs, the country and across the globe; launching new community-based programs with libraries, shelters and social service agencies; and developing innovative partnerships, such as the Lincoln Center Scholars program, in partnership with Hunter College and the New York City Department of Education, which positioned Lincoln Center as the first performing arts organization to partner with a university to train, certify and place music, theater and dance teachers in public schools with little to no arts programs. Under his leadership, LCE also commissioned and produced Up and Away, created in collaboration with Trusty Sidekick Theater Company, New York's first multi-sensory theatrical experience specifically designed for young audiences on the autism spectrum.

"Expanding his area of operations to include Lincoln Center International is a just and well-deserved evolution of his responsibilities and recognizes his tremendous value to Lincoln Center."

Granet joined Lincoln Center after running his own international consulting practice, Arts Education Resource. His clients included leading cultural institutions, school districts and public and independent schools. His wide-ranging projects involved board development, strategic planning, program design, program-funding, program implementation and developing arts education programs for students with disabilities. Prior to consulting, he served in leadership positions at The Center for Arts Education and The American Place Theatre. He is a frequent commencement and keynote speaker, conference presenter, and panelist on arts education, drawing on his background as an academic, artist, and educator. He was a teaching artist at various organizations and studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Emerson College, and NYU where he earned his M.A. From 1995 to 2015, Granet served on the faculty for NYU's Steinhardt School of Education teaching a course he created entitled, Drama with Special Populations.

Reporting to Granet will be Keith Lieberthal, who has been promoted to Senior Director, Lincoln Center International, with oversight of Lincoln Center International, Lincoln Center Global Exchange, the International Councils, and Lincoln Center's strategic partnerships. Alex Sarian has been named Director, Lincoln Center International and Nancy Kleaver has been named Senior Director, Education and Community, with oversight of LCE's day-to-day operations and alignment of community and educational initiatives.
