Rumor Patrol: THE BOOK OF MORMON Staying Put at Eugene O'Neill Theatre

This morning, AM New York reported that after Scott Rudin dropped out as producer of the upcoming Broadway production of CLYBOURNE PARK, which Jujamcyn Theatre owner Jordan Roth took over as producing that "rumors are spreading that Rudin, who is also lead producer of THE BOOK OF MORMON, is considering transferring the hit musical, which currently plays at Jujamcyn's Eugene O'Neill Theatre, to a Shubert theater merely out of spite."

Well, we went straight to the source and in a joint statement, Scott Rudin and Jordan Roth said, "We're longtime partners and good friends and have always had a great relationship. THE BOOK OF MORMON is a very happy tenant with a very happy theatre owner." 

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, just this week broke the house record of Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre for the 27th time. The show earned $1,455,329 for the week ending Sunday, February 5, in the 1,068-seat O’Neill, one of Broadway’s smallest theatres.

THE BOOK OF MORMON features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. The production is choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and is directed by Nicholaw and Parker.

THE BOOK OF MORMON is the winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score (Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, Matt Stone), Best Book (Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, Matt Stone), Best Direction (Casey Nicholaw, Trey Parker), Best Featured Actress (Nikki M.
