Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jackie Hoffman and Sutton Foster will appear at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) in January.
Daphne Rubin-Vega will perform on January 9th at 7:30 PM. "Rubin-Vega returns to Joe's Pub to rock out her melodic, driving and sexy tunes, playing music from her forthcoming CD," state press notes.
"Daphne Rubin-Vega first lit up Broadway with her debut as Mimi in the original cast of Rent, for which she won the Theater World Award, and the Tony and Drama Desk nominations as best actress in a musical, and continued on in such diverse productions as The Rocky Horror Show, Anna in the Tropics (another Tony nom), and most recently, motherhood. A self-described 'club kid,' her career got an early start when she began singing with a girl group called Pajama Party, and then went on to record her own underground club music on Maxi records. Now a new mami, Daphne and her band deliver an exciting, eclectic mix of music as diverse as the diva herself." The show is $20.
On January 15th, Jackie Hoffman will play her last shows of Chanukah at Joe's Pub at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM.
"Last year, Jackie Hoffman's The Kvetching Continues began as a 4-show run, and rave reviews and overwhelming demand turned it into the longest running show in Joe's Pub's history. This holiday season, history is repeating itself. Due to popular demand, 5 additional shows have just been announced to run through January! The hilarious Obie-award winner Jackie Hoffman (Hairspray, Kissing Jessica Stein) returns to to Joe's Pub for her annual holiday kvetch-fest." The show is directed by Michael Schiralli, with musical direction by Bobby Peaco. Her show is $25.
Sutton Foster will perform on January 16th at 7 PM and 9:30 PM.
"Tony award-winner Sutton Foster will be making a special appearance this January at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater to bring a little sunshine into all our hearts. Come in from the cold for a hot evening in January. Sutton Foster presents June in January - a collection of hot summer sunshine songs to take you away from the dreary grey of winter. Sutton recently starred on Broadway as Jo March in Little Women, The Musical, for which she was honored with nominations for the 2005 Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award as Best Actress in a Musical. She is the recipient of the 2002 Tony Award (Best Actress in a Musical), Drama Desk Award (Best Actress in a Musical), Outer Critics Circle Award (Best Actress in a Musical) and Astaire Award (Best Female Dancer) for her performance as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie. In May of 2004, Sutton made her solo concert debut at Lincoln Center as part of the American Songbook series to much critical acclaim." Foster's show costs $30.
In other recently-announced news, Bare star Natalie Joy Johnson will perform on February 1st, while Kevin Cahoon and Ghetto Cowboy will no longer perform on March 5th. A reading of an untitled musical starring Foster and Christian Borle that was to have been held on January 30th, February 6th and February 13th has also been cancelled.
