Visitors to Rosie O'Donnell's website, rosie.com, are not only privy to celebrity photos, poetry from the star's blog and information on her non-profit service organization, Rosie's Theater Kids, they also get to ask questions that the nightclub, Broadway, television and film star answers on her Ask Ro page.
Recently, a reader asked O'Donnell what she thought of Abby Lee Miller, the colorful and demanding instructor on the hit reality series DANCE MOMS. Her answer suggested an interesting return to Broadway.
Perhaps it was one of those patented Rosie wisecracks, but then, as producer of Broadway's TABOO, creating a Broadway musical about an over-the-top pop culture star is nothing new to Rosie O'Donnell. Heck, way back in '34 someone had the crazy idea to have Ethel Merman play a spoof of evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson and the result was a little show called ANYTHING GOES.
A musical comedy about an eccentric dance teacher with a kids dancing chorus and lots of parts for funny moms? Sounds like a blast.
O'Donnell suggests Kristin Chenoweth as a mom. Who else? Jackie Hoffman? Ann Harada? Donna Lynne Champlin?
Who would write the book and score? Who would direct and choreograph?
