Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy Presents DAMN YANKEES, 5/6-15

Amas Musical Theatre's Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy (Donna Trinkoff, Producing Artistic Director) will present the American musical comedy classic Damn Yankees, words and music by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop, based on the novel by Douglass Wallop "The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant". Damn Yankees will open on Friday, May 6 and run through the 15th at the LABA Theatre at the 14th Street Y, 344 East 14th Street.

Damn Yankees is the 1950's retelling of the Faustian legend in which a long-suffering baseball fan sells his soul to the devil for a chance to beat the hated New York Yankees."We're thrilled to be showcasing our talented students in this exceptional musical", says Amas Producing Artistic Director Donna Trinkoff. "Not only does it tell a wonderful, heartwarming story, it has one of the great musical comedy scores of the era, including unforgettable numbers like "Heart", and "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets".

Amas Musical Theatre's Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy began in the early nineteen seventies as the Eubie Blake Youth Theatre and is now a pre-professional performing arts training program, open to students age 14-20, throughout the New York City area. Classes in singing, dancing and acting, taught by Working Theatre professionals, culminate in a fully-staged Off-Off-Broadway production of a major musical. Recent seasons have included critically-acclaimed productions of Pajama Game, No No Nanette, Street Dreams, and Footloose. Many Academy alumni go on to performing careers on Broadway and in theatres across America, and in film and television.
