Will Gluck is directing the forthcoming major motion picture remake of the beloved Charles Strouse/Thomas Meehan/Martin Charnin stage musical classic Annie from a revised script by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna. The film is aiming to begin production in late fall 2013.

The Tony Award-winning stage musical Annie has previously been filmed twice, the first time in 1982 with John Huston in the director's chair and later in a made-for-TV adaptation produced by Disney and helmed by CHICAGO director Rob Marshall in 1999. Annie is currently playing on Broadway in a James Lapine-directed revival starring Lilla Crawford and Anthony Warlow.

Byrne is also in talks for The Man From U.N.C.L.E., but there is no word yet on whether an official offer has been made.

Byrne last appeared in The Internship. Her upcoming projects include Tumbledown, This Is Where I Leave You, Townies, Insidious: Chapter 2 and The Turning. Past film credits include I Give It A Year, The Place Beyond the Pines, X-Men: First Class, Bridesmaids, Insidious, Get Him to the Greek, Knowing, Marie Antoinette, Wicker Park and more. She has also appeared in the TV series Damages.
