Romantic Comedy Boys Just Wanna Have Fun Opens 3/2

From the creators of My Big Gay Italian Wedding comes Boys Just Wanna Have Fun, a new romantic comedy by Anthony Wilkinson and Teresa Anne Cicala. 

Co-directed by Sonia Blangiardo and Teresa Anne Cicala, the production will play every Friday and Saturday from February 23 – April 14 at the Actors Playhouse Theatre (100 Seventh Avenue South).  The official opening is set for Friday, March 2 at 10:00 PM.

"In the late 1980's, NYPD detectives Ralph and Lauren, go undercover at a Staten Island gay bar packed with eccentric regulars, to infiltrate an alleged drug ring.  Instead, Ralph soon finds himself under the covers with Danny, the local heartthrob.  In spite of some disturbing revelations and complications, in time, this unlikely couple may discover their very own happy ending," state press notes.

Born and raised in Staten Island, playwright Anthony Wilkinson's last production, the musical My Big Gay Italian Wedding, played six sold-out months at The Actors Playhouse before transferring to New World Stages for an additional four months.  Wilkinson's other musicals include Rainbow Phi and Icelandic Idol.   In addition to his theater work, Wilkinson is an Emmy-nominated Associate Director of the ABC drama "One Life To Live," where he works alongside co-playwright, Teresa Anne Cicala.

The show features Anthony Wilkinson, Rachel Valdati, Tom Baran, Randi Kaplan, Erik Ransom, Kevin P. Smith, Philip Andrew Brock, Kevin McIntyre, Chad Kessler, Liz Gerecitano, Vincent Iannuzzi, Adam Ferguson, Jonathan Lang, with set design by Robert Santeramo, lighting design by Bob Bessoir and costume design by Bernard Grenier.  The choreography is by J. Austin Eyer.  This production is presented by Andee Productions.
