Rodney Holmes Joins Mary Gatchell in Concert At Leddy Center's New Theatre, 10/16

Mary Gatchell and her band from New York City now includes the well-known and highly respected drummer, Rodney Holmes. Gatchell will feature Holmes in a performance at Leddy Center on Friday, October 16th.

Holmes joined the Santana Band for the Santana-Bob Dylan Tour, followed by offers in the jazz area to record and tour with the legendary Brecker Brothers, performing on their Grammy winning album, "Out Of The Loop" and on their Grammy winning song "African Skies." Rodney's new album, "Twelve Months of October," includes Steve Kimock on guitar.

Mary's guitarist is the roaring Peter Calo. Peter tours regularly with the likes of Carly Simon, Queen Latifah, Linda Eder, Joe Pesci, Rosie O'Donnell, James Taylor, Willie Nelson and many others. Peter was lead guitarist for Broadway's "Hairspray" and plays on the Grammy award winning original cast recording. Peter has performed on "Good Morning America," Regis and Kelly, CBS Good Morning, among many other television shows.

Rounding out Mary's band on Friday, October 16, at 7:30pm, is bassist, Peter Donavan, a Juilliard graduate, who has played with the New York Philharmonic, The Who, Bono, Quincy Jones, Wynton Marsalis, and Barbara Cook. He played bass on the 2008 Broadway Cast Recordings of "South Pacific" and "Fiddler on the Roof" and is presently bassist on Broadway for Disney's "Mary Poppins."

Mary Gatchell brings her singer/songwriter/pianist talents to Leddy Center once more, performing timeless jazz standards and her own light rock and pop creations. Mary and her band are among some of the most well respected musicians on the East Coast. Mary has her degree in Jazz Theory and Composition from NYU and has sung with Lionel Hampton, Clark Terry, Tito Puente, Al Grey, and Gerry Bergonzi. She has been featured in the Lew Anderson Big Band, and has performed at Avery Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, CBGB's, the Cutting Room, the Knitting Factory, and at the world famous jazz club, Birdland. Mary is Artistic Director and co-founder of Siena Summer Music, a summer classical and jazz music festival held each year in Italy.
