Major musical theatre licensing house The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization has posted a loving and lovely tribute to phenomenally talented and copiously accomplished composer/lyricist/playwright Michael John LaChiusa in honor of his birthday this week.

Containing clips and photos from many of his most famous musical endeavors, LaChiusa's witty way with a word and commendable command of rapturous melody - to say nothing of his exquisite character studies in the drama of his shows themselves - are given due diligence and expressively explored in this moving selection of songs and scenes.

Indeed, from THE WILD PARTY to GIANT and beyond, this clip collection certainly gives a good idea of the grand and glorious scores LaChiusa has composed thus far in his impressive career!

"I just think it's genius!" Mary Testa candidly reflects, commenting on her friend and consistent collaborator and his artistic output in the clip.

LaChiusa has been represented on Broadway with two musicals in the 1999-2000 season, MARIE CHRISTINE and THE WILD PARTY, having previously contributed material to CHRONICLE OF A DEATH FORETOLD, as well. Off-Broadway, he has been represented by multiple musicals, including HELLO AGAIN, LITTLE FISH, FIRST LADY SUITE, SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE, BERNARDA ALBA, QUEEN OF THE MIST, and, most recently, GIANT. Upcoming projects include FIRST DAUGHTER SUITE, a sequel of sorts to FIRST LADY SUITE, and more.
