A number of new stars have been added to to the Bay Street Theatre's season line-up, with Tony Roberts and Derek Cecil teaming up for the Sag Harbor, Long Island theatre's production of Anthony Shaffer's Sleuth.  In addition, Sebastian LaCause will play the foppish Lewis in Pippin, and Alice Playten and Larry Keith have also been added to the cast (as Berthe and Charlemagne, respectively).

Sleuth, a tale of deception, jealousy and strategic revenge between writer Antony Wyke (Roberts) and Milo Tindle, a wife-stealing hairdresser (Cecil), will run from July 12th to July 31st in a production directed by Will Frears (Omnium Gatherum).  Sleuth received the 1971 Tony Award for Best Play, running for 1,222 performances with Anthony Quayle and Keith Baxter as the sexual duellists.

Pippin, with a book by Roger O. Hirson and score by Stephen Schwartz,
is set during the reign of Charlemagne in the middle ages as the title character's journeys to find meaning in his life.  La Cause, Playten and Keith join the previously announced David Larsen (Pippin), Karen Ziemba (Fastrada), B.D. Wong (Leading Player) and Rachel York (Catherine) in the show, which was nominated for a 1973 Tony for Best Musical in its original, highly-conceptualized Bob Fosse staging. Jack Hofsiss (The Elephant Man) will direct the Bay Street production, with musical direction by John McDaniel and choreography by Joey McKneeley (The Boy From Oz).  Pippin will run from August 9th to September 4th.

Roberts, who recently signed on to appear in the upcoming revival of Barefoot in the Park, lists the Irish Repertory Theatre's Endgame and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife as recent Broadway credits; he has also appeared in such Broadway shows as Victor/Victoria, Cabaret, They're Playing Our Song and Sugar.  Cecil is a graduate of the
American Conservatory Theatre; he has performed at Urban Theatre, the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the American Conservatory Theatre, among other regional theatres.

LaCause is best known for having played the title role in the revival of The Rocky Horror Show; he has also appeared in Minnelli on Minnelli, Once Upon a Mattress and Chicago on Broadway.  Broadway veteran Playten's credits include Caroline, or Change, Seussical, Rumors, Henry, Sweet Henry, Oliver! and the original production of Gypsy.  Keith also appeared in Caroline, or Change; his other Broadway credits include Cabaret, Titanic, Gigi and High Spirits.
