Rob Rokicki (The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical) and Eric Price (The Violet Hour) will present two new musicals at Molloy College/CAP21 this Spring. Experience Marianas! and Emma! will be workshopped this March using students from the college.

Experience Marianas! is a wild rock musical adventure about one woman's journey to escape an oceanic cult. Co-conceived with Sarah Beth Pfeifer, the piece is a high-octane, darkly comedic examination of systems of control, and how we struggle to break cycles. Book, music and lyrics are by Rokicki, with direction by Sherri Eden Barber and music directed by Macy Schmidt. This is the first major workshop development for the project.

Emma! is a musical reimagining of Jane Austen's classic novel, featuring the songs of iconic female singers. Using hits from Sara Bareilles, Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper, Katy Perry, and more, the show tells the story of a high school senior who is certain she knows what is best for her classmates' love lives. Emma! was originally released by Broadway Licensing in 2014 and has had over 150 productions around the world. The CAP21 production will mark the first time it is directed by its author, Eric Price.

Rob Rokicki is a songwriter, performer, music director and educator. He is the composer/lyricist of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (book by Joe Tracz), which was nominated for three Drama Desk Awards, an Off-Broadway Alliance, and a Lortel Award, and is currently on a major national tour. Projects: Monstersongs (official selection NAMT '18, art by David O'Neill), Punk Rock Girl (with Joe Iconis), Strange Tails (with Michael Ruby, Ars Nova ANT Fest), Relativity (LiveRead@SDC at USC); Love, NY (DC Fringe). His work has been featured at Lincoln Center, Joe's Pub, Ars Nova, 54 Below, and the Other Palace in London. He is an American Harmony Award recipient and Larson Award finalist.
