Delaware Theatre Company is proud to announce the casting for the December 2013 production of THE STORY OF MY LIFE. THE STORY OF MY LIFE will star Ben Dibble (Tom), most recently of the Arden Theatre Company's PARADE, and Rob McClure (Alvin), who is fresh off of Papermill Playhouse's HONEYMOON IN VEGAS and a 2013 Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin in the Broadway musical CHAPLIN.

THE STORY OF MY LIFE presents a tale of two friends who couldn't imagine life without each other - until one of them could and the once inseparable pair separate. Through the rich melodies of this heartwarming musical, the audience accompanies these two friends through their adventures, struggles, and discovery that love is what binds us together. "I've never been part of a show where so many people approach me and exclaim that this show has changed their life. And frankly, it has changed my life as well," says Bud Martin, Executive Director of DTC.

"This show started as a show about friendship between a man and a woman," describes lyricist and composer Neil Bartram, "but we quickly found ourselves faced with the decision of a story that was about the need to fall in love or the inability to do so. So we made it about two male friends." "There is a very platonic aspect to these characters," adds Dibble, "as guys - it is less important to talk about the giant elephant in the room as it is to physically spend time with each other. And isn't that what friendship is all about?"

Brian Hill, who wrote the book of THE STORY OF MY LIFE, goes on to add that the musical itself presents a series of small nudges for the characters of Tom and Alvin. "Sometimes we don't view these small decisions or actions that happen to us on a daily basis as life changing; but looking back on them, they very well may be". "It's all about living in the moment," says Hill, "and making this moment as excellent and meaningful as it can be."

"As we reflect on past friends and acquaintances this holiday season, I feel like THE STORY OF MY LIFE provides the impetus for each of us to reach out to those long forgotten" says Martin, "and what better timing as we hear the lyrics around the traditional Yule log - "Should Old Acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?""
