The Muny has found its Baker and Candlestick!
Broadway and Muny veteran Rob McClure has been cast in the Muny's summer productions of INTO THE WOODS and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. In the former, he will be portraying the Baker alongside the previously announced Heather Headley as the Witch and Erin Dilly as the Baker's Wife. McClure will then take on the role of Lumiere in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, with Kate Rockwell as Belle and Nicholas Rodriguez as the Beast.
Rob McClure received 2013 Tony, Drama League, Astaire, and Outer Critics Circle Nominations, and won the TheatreWorld and Clive Barnes Awards for his performance as Charlie Chaplin in Chaplin The Musical on Broadway. He recently starred, opposite Tony Danza, in the Paper Mill Playhouse world-premier production of Jason Robert Brown's Honeymoon In Vegas which is headed for Broadway in 2014. Prior to that he charmed audience and critics alike with another title role, leading the cast of Where's Charley? at Encores. A two-time Barrymore Award winner, Rob starred on Broadway as Princeton/Rod in the Tony Award winning musical Avenue Q. He made his Broadway debut in the 2002 Broadway revival of I'm Not Rappaport alongside Judd Hirsch and Ben Vereen. Other selected credits include Avenue Q (1st National Tour, Helen Hayes Nomination), Amadeus (Mozart, Walnut Street Theatre), The Game's Afoot (World Premiere by Ken Ludwig, Cleveland Playhouse), Johnny Baseball (World Premiere at American Repertory Theater).
Into the Woods (July 21-27) is directed by Gary Griffin, choreographed by Chris Bailey and music directed by Brad Haak. Scenic design is by Michael Schweikardt, with costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Rob Denton, sound design by John Shivers and Hugh Sweeney, and video design by Matthew Young. Wig design is by Leah Loukas and the production stage manager is Monica Dickhens.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast (July 29-August 7) is directed by Matt Lenz, choreographed by Vince Pesce and music directed by Ben Whiteley. Scenic design is by Robert Mark Morgan, with costume design by Robin L. McGee, lighting design by Nathan Scheuer, sound design by John Shivers and Hugh Sweeney, and video design by Matthew Young. Wig design is by John Metzner and the production stage manager is Matt Lacey.
