"Here she is boys! Here she is, world! Here's Rose!" The mother of all stage mothers comes to life in GYSPY, the legendary Broadway musical inspired by the memoirs of famed burlesque artist Gypsy Rose Lee. The determined Madame Rose wheedles and charms the world as she pushes her daughters into the vaudeville spotlight. But what price does a mother pay for trying to live out her own dreams through her children?

This legendary leading role of Madame Rose in the oft-revived musical has been essayed by Ethel Merman (original 1959 Broadway production), Rosalind Russel (1962 Hollywood film), Angela Lansbury (1975 Broadway revival), Tyne Daly (1989 Broadway revival), Bette Midler (1993 television film), Bernadette Peters (2003 Broadway revival), and Patti LuPone (2008 Broadway revival). The show can currently be seen in London's West End in a critically-acclaimed production starring Imelda Staunton.

GYPSY features music by Jule Styne with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The score includes such classic songs as "Let Me Entertain You," "Together, Wherever We Go," "All I Need is the Girl," "You Gotta Get a Gimmick," and, of course, "Everything's Coming Up Roses." The acclaimed libretto is by Arthur Laurents.

Featuring a cast of adults, teens, and children from Riverdale, Upper Manhattan, Yonkers, and beyond, the Riverdale Repertory Company/Rising Stars production of GYPSY is directed by Jordan Bland, with choreography by Juliet Fixel, and music direction by Robert Walton. The design team includes Eric Zoback (Set Design), Jenna Lyons (Scenic painting), David Pentz (Lighting Design) and Denise Eberly (Sound Design).
