A dance legend talks AN AMERICAN IN PARIS with its director/choreographer!

Rapturously received brand new Broadway musical AN AMERICAN IN PARIS will be discussed at Symphony Space in an event featuring iconic Broadway and Hollywood star Rita Moreno interviewing the accomplished director and choreographer of the production, Christopher Wheeldon, on April 27 according to a new listing.

The conversation is billed as such: "Words On Dance presents an evening of conversation and television and film clips with Christopher Wheeldon, the director and choreographer of the new Broadway musical An American in Paris (based on the Oscar-winning 1951 film), who will talk about his extraordinary and unique career. The conversation will be hosted by the Academy, Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award-winning actress/singer/dancer Rita Moreno, and clips representing the work of both artists (and a look at the Broadway production of An American in Paris) will be shown."

Highly acclaimed choreographer CHRISTOPHER WHEELDON directs a remarkable cast of singers, actors and dancers as they bring the magic and romance of Paris and the timeless songs of GEORGE GERSHWIN AND IRA GERSHWIN into perfect harmony. AN AMERICAN IN PARIS also features a book from Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize finalist, CRAIG LUCAS, sets and costumes by six-time Tony® winner BOB CROWLEY and lighting by three-time Tony® winner NATASHA KATZ. Principal casting has been announced for the upcoming world premiere production of An American in Paris. The cast will include Robert Fairchild as Jerry Mulligan, Leanne Cope as Lise Dassin, Veanne Cox as Madame Baurel, Jill Paice as Milo Davenport, Brandon Uranowitz as Adam Hochberg, and Max von Essen as Henri Baurel. Leanne Cope is appearing with the permission of Actors' Equity Association. AN AMERICAN IN PARIS will be presented at Théâtre du Châtelet in English featuring the 25-member Broadway cast with a score including the songs "I Got Rhythm," "S' Wonderful," "But Not For Me," "Stairway to Paradise," "Our Love Is Here To Stay", "They Can't Take That Away" and orchestral music including "Concerto in F," "2nd Prelude," "2nd Rhapsody" and "An American In Paris". The Broadway run of An American in Paris will begin previews Friday, March 13, 2015 for a Sunday, April 12, 2015 opening night at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street)."
