Rising Stars Children's Theater Presents Presents PETER PAN

The Riverdale Y's Jr. Rising Stars children's theater company begins its third season with the high Flying Musical of Peter Pan; opening Thursday, January 15, at 7pm. The show will run Saturdays, January 17, and 24, at 7:00 pm; and Sundays, January 18, and 24, at 7 pm; and Thursday, January 22, at 7pm. Matinees are offered on Sundays, January 18, and 24, at 2 pm.

"The Flying Foys are here in Riverdale," says the show's director, Becky Lillie Woods, "to help our kids fly. And they know how to make it happen - they helped Mary Martin, the original Peter Pan, and Mary Rigby, fly on Broadway."

Join Peter, Wendy, Michael, John and their dog Nana in their classic trip to Neverland.

Tickets are $18, and $12 for seniors and students online and in advance of the show, or the day of the show at the box office, though this show is expected to sell out in advance. Tickets can be purchased at www.riverdaley.org or by calling 718-548-8200 ext. 211. Directions to the Y are also on the website. There is ample free parking in the Riverdale Y's private lot, 5625 Arlington Avenue in the northwest Bronx.

Author James Barrie left the copyright of PETER PAN to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, and thousands of children have benefited from his gift in the years since his death. The producers are proud and happy that everyone buys tickets to the performances is helping a sick child get well.

The Riverdale YM-YWHA is a Jewish Community Center which has been serving the Bronx since 1909. Located along the Hudson River in the northwest corner of the Bronx, the Riverdale Y is a multi-generational community service agency providing informal education, physical education, leisure activities, and social services. The Y houses a state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor pool, and departments concentrating on Early Childhood Education, After-School, theater, film, dance, music, visual arts, and senior adults.
