Rise Up! HAMILTON Original Cast Recording Now Platinum Certified!

The Hamilton original cast recording continues to Rise Up! The musical took to Twitter to announce that the recording has now been officially platinum certified, meaning it has sold in excess of one million units!

The LP, out on Atlantic Records, won this year's GRAMMY award for Best Musical Theater Album. It was certified Gold in April, 2016. Recently, the production was nominated for a record-breaking 16 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical and Best Book, Music and Lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The new musical Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also plays the title role. The musical is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations byAlex Lacamoire. Hamilton is inspired by Ron Chernow's biography "Alexander Hamilton."
