Comedian/actor/writer/producer Whitney Cummings is arguably one of the funniest women doing stand-up today. She is best known as the creator and star of the NBC sitcom Whitney, as well as co-creator, along with Michael Patrick King, of the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, which will return this fall for a third season. Cummings also wrote, produced and starred in her autobiographical sitcom Whitney, which aired on NBC for 2 seasons in 2011 - 2013 and appears regularly on E!'s, Chelsea Lately as well as on Comedy Central's Roasts. Her one-hour stand up special, Money Shot, premiered on Comedy Central in 2010 and was nominated for an American Comedy Award later that year. Cummings will bring her witty self to The Ridgefield Playhouse tonight, May 15, for an 8 p.m. stand-up show. This show is for audiences 18 and older. Special guest is Tom Briscoe, who was voted Funniest Comedian Of The Year by readers of The Times Herald Record. Briscoe performs in Las Vegas and Atlantic City at premiere venues like The Tropicana, The Riviera, and The Borgata. Bissell House (378 Main St., Ridgefield) will pour a free glass of house wine or draught beer with dinner the night of this show when tickets/stubs are presented. This event is part of the Clark Construction Comedy Series with media sponsor Star 99.9fm.

A University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude grad with a degree in communications and film, Whitney Cummings covers topics such as gender differences, sexism, human sexuality and relationships. In the words of someone who recently saw Whitney's stand-up show, "Whitney is beautiful, quick-witted, and laugh-out-loud funny. Her star is rising. Catch her whenever you can. I will always go to see her whenever she's in town."

Most recently, Cummings appeared in the summer tour Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, co-headlining with Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Aziz Ansari, Louis C.K. and others. Her second one-hour stand-up special, Whitney Cummings: I Love You, debuted on Comedy Central in June 2014. In the special, she shares brutally honest insights about love and relationships, covering everything from what real org*sms look like to her frustration at men calling women "crazy".

For tickets ($70), call or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
