'Rewriting Her Life' New Comedy at 411 Space, Begins Nov.28

Rewriting Her Life, a new comedy by Barbara Sutton Masry and directed by Tony-award winning actress Trezana Beverly begins at the new performance venue The 411 Space Times Square Arts Center on Wednesday, November 28 at 8PM; opening Thursday, November 29 at 8PM. Performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 5PM through December 9.

"Barbara Masry's new comedy Rewriting Her Life is a tribute to the aspirations, disillusionments, and collaborations of struggling theater artists everywhere. This sharp and sophisticated romp tells the story of a struggling Manhattan playwright who returns to Brooklyn University, her alma mater, seeking a production of her latest play. Ambition and romance collide when she hooks up with her old college crush who is now the Acting Chair of the Theater Department," explain press notes.

Barbara Sutton Masry (Writer/Producer) – While working as an educator and community activist, and raising two children, Masry wrote a novel, newspaper articles, and produced her own plays, A Fettucini Affair, published by Samuel French, and two original musicals, Womansong and Suburban Serenade. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times, Newsday and other Long Island newspapers. She has also written and produced shows for Cable TV, and video shorts. She is a member of CineWomenNY, NYWIFT (New York Women in Film and Television), and IFP, and was named to the Town of North Hempstead Women's Roll of Honor. Her screenplay, 'The Wake-up Call,' adapted from her novel, Pink Warrior, is in development for an independent film production.

Director Trezana Beverley won a Tony Award for her performance in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf in 1976. She is not only recognized as one of Americas great actresses but also for her highly refined skills as a director, acting teacher, and singer. Highlights from her distinguished acting career include: Mother Courage, Flyin' West, Peer Gynt and Macbeth. Recent directing credits include: Salome, Yellowman, String of Pearls and The Bluest Eye. She is returning for her fourth year as a guest director on the faculty of the Juilliard School. Ms. Beverley is co-founder and artistic director of Odd Socks Productions (www.oddsocksproductions.com) and will be seen playing the lead role in Euripedes' Medea in February at The American Actors Theatre in New York City.

Featured in the cast are Rob Alicea, Sandra Bauleo, Jeff Burchfield, James M. Farrell, Joanna Rhinehart, Maja Wampuszyc and Anne Yorke.

The design team includes lights by Ken Davis, scenic design by Raisy Derzie, and costumes by Ali Turns. Robin Vest is the Set Consultant.
