A memorable evening filled with laughter and song.

It was a lovely night as we arrived at Thistle Hall. The theatre space is upstairs, but there is a lift available if you have mobility issues.

The theatre space was nice and open, but once the curtains and the windows were closed,  the place heated up quickly, so would recommend you take a fan along with you if it is a fine day. Drinks and snacks were also on sale and a tea towel! Great to see some merchandise available.

Looking at the programme before the show began, with only five songs listed each half, I thought we were probably in for a show lasting about an hour. Not so. This show ran nearly two hours (including intermission) and was filled with stories of Glen's childhood, his "fame" as an 11 year old and through the years of growing up and realising that his dream may not become a reality and also realising that he's ok with that. The songs chosen had meaning for each of the stories he told and he delivered them with expertise. He has a lovely singing voice.

Glen tells a deeply personal story and the show is all the better for that. He did not shy away from difficult topics, yet there were plenty of laughs along the way. I was drawn into his story and never looked at my watch, being engaged the entire show. You are bound to have had some similar experiences growing up.

The set was very simple with a couple of stools and some suitcases carrying props, but the projected images really enhanced the show.

DIrection by Nick Lerew was unobtrusive and Musical Director and accompaniast Hayden Taylor brought the best our of Glens wonderful voice.

The audience was very enthusiastic and Glen recieved a well deserved standing ovation at the end of the show.

This is not your usual musical theatre show, this has much broader appeal. If you are thinking about going, book! Highly recommended.
