I'd try to describe this show, but it's so good, so beautiful, that words should simply pack up and go home.

Review: THE SNOW QUEEN at Wroclaw Opera Image

We must be doing something right to deserve this kind of ballet in Wroclaw, and I hope it keeps casting its spell on us—because you must see it!

The collective gasp of enjoyment and awe was palpable across the audience, from 5 to 95 years old. The elegance, the movements, and the acrobatic revolutions on stage were like a hypnotic séance with the essence of beauty and pure quality. Max Richter’s music, his reimagining of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, breathes new life into the show, making it not just original but innovative—especially as it takes us through the seasons, with Gerda searching for her dear friend.

The cast was so beautiful, not just in their grace, but in every leap, pirouette, and glide. Watching them was like witnessing poetry in motion—if poetry could fly through the air with perfect precision and leave you breathless! Gerda (Miho Okamura), Kai (David Oscar Blat), Snow Queen (Nonoka Miyamoto), Crow (Daniel Agudo Gallardo), and the entire ensemble cast a spell on the audience as if we were all under their enchanting sway, unable to look away for even a second. I want more!

Review: THE SNOW QUEEN at Wroclaw Opera ImageMore of Malgorzata Dzierzon’s genius choreography that effortlessly fuses modern and classical ballet, more of the breathtaking scenography and lights of Mikki Kunttu, more of the stunning costumes of Malgorzata Sloniowska, more of Adam Czermak’s resonant violin, more of incredible acrobatics by Chris Knight. I want more of the pure energy that transforms a child’s innocence into bold vulnerability with its energy, joy, and bravery. I became utterly hooked on the beauty and raw magic pouring from the stage and I know I wasn’t flying solo on this one.

This show is designed to reach the deepest corners of your soul, filling them with marvel and graceful charm, melting the ice the Snow Queen's mirror might have left in your heart. Let it work its spell—you’ll leave the building of Opera a better human being, as I truly believe that magnificence can make the universe a better place.
