Reprise Theatre Company Closes Its Doors For Good

Late last year, Reprise Theatre Company's artistic director Jason Alexander and board president Barbara Fodor wrote a letter to their subscribers announcing the RTC would be making a comeback. They wrote: "We are pleased to say that behind the scenes we are working toward a rebirth of Reprise that is responsible, artistically renewed, and moving ahead steadily."

After going on a hiatus in early 2012 because of financial problems, the theatre compnay has officially decided to close for good, according to the LA Times. Only half of the fundraising goal was reached to bring RTC back to life. While an attempt was made to move to the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Koreatown, it was eventually decide that the venue was "inconvenient."

The Reprise Theatre Company was founded by Marcia Seligson in 1997, in Los Angeles, California. Reprise Theatre Company are the resident players at the Freud Playhouse, where it stagesrevival productions. After years of well-received performances, the company was forced to cancel several productions in 2011 due to budgetary concerns. In February 2012, the Board of the Reprise Theatre Company announced a production hiatus, citing dwindling ticket sales.
