See What I Wanna See is based on three Ryunosuke Akutagawa pieces ("In the Grove," "The Dragon" and "Kesa and Morito") from Rashomon and Other Stories. They inspired the famous Kurasawa film, which used a narrative division in point of view as its characters recall the circumstances of a murder; LaChiusa's musical will do the same. See What I Wanna See, which was workshopped in 2004 at the Williamstown Theatre Festival with Audra McDonald, will open on October 11th with Marc Kudisch, Mary Testa and Henry Stram as its other stars and Ted Sperling as its director. The limited engagement will run through November 20th.Lohr previously appeared at the Public Theatre in George C. Wolfe's 2003 musical Radiant Baby; he has also appeared off-Broadway in Bare (as Matt). His film credits include Newsies, D2: The Mighty Ducks, and Trojan War. He has been seen on TV in "Law and Order: Trial by Jury," "Sister, Sister" and "Family Matters," among others.
