Z100, "New York's Number One Hit Music Station," will kick off a six week Get Active Public Service Campaign with Musicians on Call & "Rent On Broadway." Starting today, tri-state area teens are encouraged to get their schools to donate as many full length new or gently used CD's towards Musicians on Call's CD Pharmacies Program. The middle or high school that donates the largest number of CD's wins a free, private performance at their school by the cast of Rent.
All collected CD's will go to Musicians on Call, a non profit organization founded in 1999 with the mission of bringing live and recorded music to the bedsides of people in healthcare facilities. At no fee, the organization provides hospitals with complete CD libraries and players for patient use. Currently the organization has 105 CD pharmacies: 77 throughout New York, 16 in New Jersey, 9 in Philadelphia, 1 in Boston , 1 in Baltimore and 1 in Ohio.
Schools and students interested in participating must have Principals fill out an official entry registration form by October 1, 2006. It can be found at http://www.z100.com/pages/getactiveRENT.html All registered schools will have until October 31st, 2006 to collect CD's. The winning student's school will receive one performance from the cast of Rent (approximately a 30 minute selection of songs from the show) to occur during the 2006/2007 regular school year.
Z100 reaches over 2.5 million listeners weekly. For more information, log on to www.Z100.com or www.musiciansoncall.com
