Rent the Runway is stepping up their game again with exclusive designs for the first time.
A group of seven designers - Christian Siriano, Badgley Mischka, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, Lela Rose, Kenneth Jay Lane, and Marchesa Voyage - created a special 25-piece collection just for the Web site.
This is a wonderful new feature for the site, celebrating its fifth year, especially after the recent report that the company is seeking $50 million in funding.Cofounder and chief executive officer Jennifer Hyman told WWD that the Rent the Runway team worked closely with the group of designers to produce pieces that were "extremely editorial."
"The intention is to enable women to get out of their fashion comfort zone and try new brands and experiment with styles that push them. You shouldn't be renting the little black dress," Hyman said. "We want them all to be statement pieces." The collection has already hit renttherunway.com and features items like Badgley Mischka's gold sequin crop top and black tulle midi skirt, (rents for $45 and $75), as well as a red Monique Lhuillier silk faille high-low gown (rents for $400 - pictured right).
