As part of the Cherry Lane Theatre's major renovation, the history-laden 170-year-old building is inviting the public to become a permanent part of the theatre's legacy. Cherry Lane's Renovate 38 campaign offers several options to leave a mark:

Name a Space: Put your name on the Mainstage or Studio theatres, lobbies, artist and office spaces, or box office. Spaces start at $6,000.

Engrave a Floor Stone: CLT offers the opportunity to engrave a floor stone with your name or names of those you wish to honor. Larger floor stones start at $3,000, medium floor stones are from $2,000.

Take a Seat: Put your name on a cherry wood seat in the mainstage. Seats start at $1,000.

Hearts of Art: Add your name to the "Hearts of Art" wall displayed in the theatre's lobby, starting at $50.

New York's longest running Off-Broadway theatre will be unveiling its new home as part of its annual gala on April 3. The gala will honor four individuals of extraordinary stature with the Cherry Lane Legacy Award: playwrights Edward Albee and David Henry Hwang, renowned theatre lawyer John F. Breglio and Speaker of the New York City Council Christine C. Quinn, as part of its annual Gala.  This star-studded event to be held at the newly renovated Cherry Lane Theatre will be hosted by two-time Tony Award-winning actress Judith Ivey and will feature special performances and appearances by F. Murray Abraham, Amiri Baraka, Robby Benson, Karla DeVito, Dule Hill and many others.

"A landmark in Greenwich Village's cultural landscape, Cherry Lane Theatre serves as a vital lab for the development of new American works and the cultivation of a diverse, multigenerational audience.  Their focus is the playwright as central to the dramatic event and the text as intrinsic to theatrical innovation and excellence.  Indeed, as New York's oldest, continuously running Off-Broadway theater, the Cherry Lane has helped to define American drama, fostering quality theater that is daring and relevant, for over 80 years," according to press notes.
