Rehearsals are underway and tickets are now on sale for Happy Few Theatre Company's inaugural production, a seven-person adaptation of Shakespeare's "As You Like It" in which every member of the ensemble will play multiple parts. Featuring original music performed by the cast and a modern setting, the production will open at Theaterlab NYC on w. 36th st. on April 10, 2014, with performances running through April 27, 2014.
The cast of "As You Like It" features Ellen Adair (The Mint Theatre, The Pearl Theatre, Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" and "Brotherhood"), as Adam and Rosalind, Nat Cassidy (59E59, SoHo Playhouse, two-time NY Innovative Theatre Award winner) as Touchstone and Silvius, Eric Gilde (EST, Cherry Lane Studio, The Brick) as Oliver and Jacques, Patrick Mulryan (Fiasco's Into the Woods, LaMama) as Orlando and First Lord, Anna O'Donoghue (Tom Stoppard's Rock and Roll on Broadway, Second Stage) as Celia and Audrey, Christopher Seiler (eight seasons as a company member at the American Shakespeare Center) as Dukes Frederick and Senior as well as Corin, and Alexander Sovronsky (Cyrano de Bergerac with Kevin Kline, The Public, TFANA, Red Bull) as LeBeau, Amiens, and Phebe.
Company members Ellen Adair and Eric Gilde are co-directing, and Alexander Sovronsky is composing the show's music.
The creative team also includes Mia Bienovich (Costume Design), Bart Cortright (Video Design), Sean Gorski (Technical Direction), Ben Kahre (Fight Choreography), and Tyler M. Perry (Lighting Design).
As You Like It runs April 10th through 27th at Theaterlab in midtown Manhattan.
