The award-winning York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) announces the commencement of rehearsals for the return of its hilarious and heartwarming holiday hit 2006 revue, That Time of the Year. This extremely limited engagement will be presented in a style similar to the York's Musicals in Mufti Series (Staged concerts of musical theatre gems performed "book-in-hand" with minimal props and costumes) from December 18th through December 20th, 2009.
The cast includes
Bridget Beirne (2007 cast of That Time of the Year),
Kerri Jill Garbis (2007 cast of That Time of the Year),
Josh Grisetti (
Theatre World Award winner for Enter Laughing, The Musical),
Ann Harada (Avenue Q, 9 to 5), and
Thom Christopher Warren (The Lion King). Emmy Award winner
Annette Jolles (Little by Little) will be serving as director with
Matt Castle (Enter Laughing, The Musical) as music director.
Comprised of all-original holiday tunes performed by zany wintertime characters such as singing fruitcakes, a dancing dreidel and a very sexy Mrs. Claus, That Time of the Year has lyrics by
Laurence Holzman and
Felicia Needleman and music by eight different composers (Sanford Marc Cohen, Nicholas Levin,
Donald Oliver,
Kyle Rosen,
Brad Ross, Mark Wherry and Wendy Wilf).
Performances are as follows: Friday, December 18th at 8 PM, Saturday, December 19th at 2:30 and 8 PM, and Sunday, December 20th at 2:30 and 7:30 PM. Tickets are priced at $37.50 and available at the York Theatre Box Office (open Monday through Friday from Noon to 6 PM), by phone at 212-935-5820 or online at
www.yorktheatre.org.
