Regeneration Theatre will revive SKYSCRAPER. Not seen anywhere since its original production with Julie Harris, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Peter Marshall, which closed in 1966, SKYCRAPER received 5 Tony Award nominations in a year that also included Man of La Mancha, Mame, and Sweet Charity. Not too shabby.

SKYCRAPER is a musical slice of 1960s New York, complete with the battle of the sexes, tension between developers and preservationists, and a cavalcade of dreams and dreamers that seem to be a copyright of New York City back-in-the-day. However, Skyscraper, while a period piece, is now resoundingly relevant today.

SKYCRAPER has never been revived until now. It is a love letter to the ever-changing nature of New York City and to what you can dream if you put your mind to it. With a memorable score by Jimmy Van Heusen, witty lyrics by Sammy Cahn, and engaging book by Peter Stone book (based on Elmer Rice's Dream Girl), Skyscraper is rare treasure.

SKYCRAPER CAST: Erin Soler will play Georgina Allerton, originally portrayed by Julie Harris, and will be supported by Brian J Alford as Tim Bushman , and Kenneth Kyle Martinez as Roger Summerhill. Rounding out the leads will be Alex Price (Bert), Bill Morton (Allerton), Lisa Berman (Mrs Allerton), Mario Claudio (Stanley), and Kalia Lay (Charlotte), and an ensemble featuring Jeff Van Damme, AJ Hunsucker, Rebecca Frazier, Janice Engelgau, Maja Parker

Kristen Keim will co-direct with Barnaby Edwards and will also choreograph. Musical direction by Daniel Lincoln. New arrangements will highlight the style of the time in which it was written and Van Heusen and Cahn's close relationship with the style and songs of Frank Sinatra.

SKYCRAPER performs Sept 7-Sept 17 at UrbanStages, 259 West 30th Street, New York. Tickets available at http://regeneration.brownpapertickets.com

This will be followed by another rare revival: Erin Solér directs Ed Gracyk's evergreen play about delusions, and friendship through the changing years - COME BACK TO THE FIVE AND DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN.
