Red House Arts Center is proud to open its 2015/16 LAB Series with "Elegies for Angels, Punks, and Raging Queens," a musical celebration of lives lost to AIDS told through free verse, rock, jazz and blues. Bursting with humor, rage and hope, Elegies will be presented for three performances, October 2 - 4. Don't miss this unique production the Glasgow Herald says will leave you "glowing!"

With book by Bill Russell (Broadway's Side Show) and music by Janet Hood, Elegies was created as a communities' theatrical response to the overwhelming AIDS crisis that loomed throughout the '90's. It was first presented in New York City in 1989 as part of the Sixth Annual New Works Festival and subsequently presented in London in 1992.

At times humorous, hopeful, and angry, Elegies unites an ensemble of diverse backgrounds to celebrate the lives affected by the AIDS crisis. The Redhouse production includes Grace Allyn, Laura Austin, Stephfond Brunson, Chris Coffey, Kate Fahey, Joe Fanelli, LaRon Grant, Katishma Grey, Erin Huiett, Lynn King, Michael King, Erin Lafferty, Danielle Melendez, Andrew Metz, Nazir Muhammad, Kayla Newby, Tammy Reese, Ben Sheedy, Jason Timothy, Ian Tock, Miquel Vasquez, Kathleen Whipple, and Donnie Williams. The production is directed by Gregory Maddock, Danielle Melendez, and Stephen Svoboda with musical direction by Sean Carpenter and choreography by Stephfond Brunson.
