Red Hot & New: A Songwriters' and Singers' Soiree at Ido Sushi New York This Thursday October 28th at 8:30PM
Richard Pepenella presents Red Hot & New the newest weekly party to hit the theater and cabaret scene

Manhattan's most acclaimed theater and cabaret composers and lyricists will share the spotlight with some of her newest up and coming songwriters. Featuring some of their favorite singers as well as other special guests. Then you'd better bring your books because the microphone opens to the audience where songwriters and singers alike have the chance to perform their favorite songs until closing.

Hosted by the comic eccentric chanteuse of the West Village, Suzanne Pilzer
with our guest pianist the lovely and talented Kat Sherrell.

This weeks guests are the award winning composer Daniel Maté,
our Up and Coming songwriter of the week Julian Blackmore,
and special guest, the comic songwriter, Chuck Prentiss.

About the composers...
Daniel Maté received a 2010 Jonathan Larson Foundation Grant, and has been selected to receive the ASCAP Foundation's 2010 Cole Porter Award for music and lyrics. He is the composer-lyricist of the song cycle The Longing and the Short Of It , which has been presented at Barrington Stage Company, curated by William Finn, and at the 2010 ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop, helmed by Stephen Schwartz. He also wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the book, with composer Will Aronson, for the Kafka-inspired musical The Trouble With Doug (2008 Goodspeed Festival of New Artists; workshop production, CAP 21, 2009; NAMT Festival 2010, Victoria Clark, dir.) He runs a custom gift song service (www.startspreadingthemuse.com) and teaches songwriting to young people. He is the founder and artistic director of Blue Room Arts Collective, whose first show, "Brooklyn's Got Character[s]", debuted at Galapagos Art Space in September 2010. Julian Blackmore

Julian was born in Leicester (UK) and studied music at the University of Leeds. A solid background in pop songwriting and production led him to work primarily as a composer and producer, with stints as an educator and performer around the UK and Europe. He relocated to New York in 2008 to study the crafty art of musical theatre writing at NYU.
His material has been used in a variety of genres, spanning film, chart/dance, and children's music. Currently he is working on a new musical comedy, songs for a one woman show, and production music for online libraries. His interests include yoga, travel and jumping out of planes for no good reason. www.julianblackmore.com

Chuck Prentiss is a Singer-Songwriter who has performed his songs all over the world, on land and sea. His original songs have been played on many radio programs all across the country. Chuck's lectures on musical theater -- complete with video clips of the original stars -- have become one of the most popular, most in-demand new entertainmentprograms in South Florida. From the Pompano Beach Civic Center to the Fort Lauderdale LGBT Pride Center to the Florida Grand Opera Society, Chuck's new musical theater programs are rapidly becoming the Toast of South Florida. In his spare time, Chuck is also the Lead Singer of the Broward County Mummers.
